Leeching .. keke. I condone it, yup yup.. I love aspenwood.. but if my team is really bad.. and it's obvious we are not going to win, I don't waste my time mashing buttons. I go do something else and collect the little bit of faction given to you for losing.

Now, if you're reporting something other than names, please do not use that address, for as the instructions say, it is intended for... "Name Reports: Reports of Inappropriate character or guild names (Note, this is for names only; report behavior concerns to http://support.guildwars.com/)"
I am sorry, but I cannot see the problem with this. Could you please explain why you have troubles? Email address for name reports. Support URL for issues like in-game harassment, racist chat, scamming, etc.
As to AFK leechers, you may find that behavior unsportsmanlike or irritating -- many of us do -- but where is it a support issue? We are not taking action on AFKers at this time, and reporting to support will probably garner a response that confirms that fact. We may not even have the technology to pull records and see if someone idled in a mission or was active; I honestly don't know if we do. I do know that the AFK situation is something that we may be choose to address in the future, either by disciplining players who engage in it, or perhaps by changes in design. But it is not considered a Support issue at this time, and we request that you not submit tickets regarding this matter.
As long as I'm here, I should tell you that we've gotten a few questions lately about "What happens when I fill out a ticket?" I can promise you that every ticket is read (even though you do get an automated response at first) by a human, and is acted upon, when the report is confirmed by means available to us. For instance, we can track matters of harassment or offensive chat very easily. And while we can't write back and say "Hey, nailed the guy big time!" we do, indeed, nail that guy, or gal, big time, whenever the situation merits it!

well, i think the only solution to this is organized groups, that way you remove the the random player factor.
I remember AB's when in beta were groups of 12, which i think was allot better, but broke the skill mech's at the same time, if you could combine groups to 8/12 before entering but still keep a 4/4/4 setup it would drop the ratio of leechers, or at least you would find out if someone is leaching or afk/brb.
Sadly thou i don't think AB will get a change.

uh, this is retarded. How about give the leader or give players vote the right to kick someone from an instance. Leechers is another reason you have crap pugs, all the experienced players are fed up. Anet is being retarded in not looking into this issue

Why is no-one making the rather obvious point that you have to wait so damn long for an AB match to start (after hitting Enter Battle) that it encourages people to leave their computers and do other things while they wait - like making toast.
I really don't believe the 'no opposing party joined' message at all, when AB is full and has 3 English districts, there are loads of people waiting at my end (Kurzick) and I don't imagine that the Luxon area is deserted, tumble weed blowing through it etc.
It shouldn't be necessary to watch the 30 second countdown run 10-15 times just to get a game. I've created parties of four and checked that everybody is there, asked everyone not to go AFK, then hit 'Enter Battle'. Then I've sat there staring at the screen getting bored and after 5 minutes we've got into a battle. I've called my 3 party members over to the transporter and only one has followed. The other two are AFK. Does this make them leeches or leavers? I don't think so. They just thought "I'll go get the washing out while the 30 second counter ticks down 10-15 times" and then battle started while they were away.
It would be kind of nice for A-Net to increase the capacity of AB now it's generated all these extra players. Because one of the principal AFK problems is driven by the fact that people are leaving the PC - and they are *not* leachers or quitters. And stop telling us 'no opposing party joined' - I bet there are 4-5 parties waiting at the end and GW is telling them the same thing.

With leechers in AB I don't see an easy solution, but as for leavers I think a -500 or -1k faction penalty for leaving would be fair.
I do understand that sometimes real life interferes with being able to finish the whole mission/battle/etc. But unless your life involves hourly life-and-death situations to deal with, I think the occasional faction loss wouldn't be such a big deal. And if that's still not good enough, maybe we could even have a mechanic so a penalty is only issued if the player has already quit recently (in the past hour perhaps).
As for players who desert their parties on a whim, I think it's only fair that they lose faction every time they screw over their allies. When you think about faction as a measure of "rep" with the Luxons/Kurzicks it only makes more sense, as both sides would probably lose respect for an "ally" that keeps abandoning them mid-battle.
Anyway, that's my idea. I get the impression Anet is completely uninterested in the matter, so I doubt this'll amount to anything more than speculation.

I agree that leechers - and to a lesser extent leavers - make the game less fun for those that want a good contest.
I really like a couple of the suggestions we have seen above.
One of these, a penalty for someone who leaves early - say, 50 Balthazar and 50 Luxon faction - not enough to be too bad for people who are playing properly and have to go answer the door, but enough to discourage thoughtless leaving - I think it could work. (I am sure ANET could distinguish between leavers and those with dropped connections)
The second great suggestion was for a script to check if people don't move once they get into an area. Everyone can have bad luck with connections and lag - but for no movement at all over several battles - that is likely to be a leecher. If there is a heavy penalty for leeching, say resets all unspent faction to zero, and starts a leecher title track, then that could discourage people. If you earn say 100 leecher points (1 point per leeching attempt) you would be disabled from entering ab, jade arena and fort aspen, and forced to display leecher title.
If you just had REALLY bad luck with connections/lag, you could email ANET to get your account released - or reset to zero leecher points - but you would have to have a good case.
What do you think?

I remember a while ago there was a thread asking everybody to leave AB if there was a leecher. Didn't work too well. Unless there is a massive uproar i doubt anything will change. Seeing as this thread only goes on for 2 pages so far... well...
